The most beautiful viewing platforms in Tyrol and Salzburg
It hovers just under 70 metres above the abyss: the walk-on viewing platform not far from the Triassic Centre. Shaped like a fan coral, it offers visitors spectacular views down into the depths and breathtaking vistas. Another highlight is the Panorama Muschel, an accessible relaxation area made of larch wood with spectacular views of the Tyrolean mountains. Here, relaxation meets the experience of nature. New this summer: our ‘FIT MIT AUSSICHT’ activity programme, featuring yoga, qigong and fitness sessions right on the ‘Muschel’. The Panorama Muschel is a barrier-free rest and viewing area made of larch wood, which opens out onto the mountain landscape like a giant shell. When is the Steinplatte gondola lift in Waidring open?
The 2026 summer service will run daily from Saturday 23 May 2026 (Whitsun weekend) up to and including Sunday 20 September 2026, from 9.00 am to 4.45 pm.

Dogs are allowed on the gondola and are very welcome in the outdoor area, but please keep them out of the children’s water play areas and the childcare area.
Who are the walking trails on the Steinplatte suitable for?
The Steinplatte offers a variety of walks to suit all ages and fitness levels – from leisurely strolls to challenging day walks. You can choose from the Triassic Trail, the path to the Steinplatte summit cross, the Stallenalm–Grünwaldalm walk, the Stallenalm – Winklmoosalm – Schwarzloferalm – Möseralm loop, the day hike to the Fellhorn, and the more challenging Wemeteigenalm – Wiesloch route.
Stunning hiking trails and panoramic views
What can climbing enthusiasts expect at the Steinplatte?
Climbing enthusiasts can look forward to a varied area featuring climbing crags, sport climbing routes and alpine multi-pitch routes for various levels of experience. The Schuastagangl via ferrata is also one of the highlights: this route, which takes around three hours to complete, involves a 180-metre ascent and is rated difficulty level C; it offers impressive panoramic views and can be reached via the Gamssteig or via the Stallenalm and Grünwaldalm. Mountain guides can be booked for a guided tour; equipment is available from local specialist sports shops.

What cycling routes are there around the Steinplatte?
There are various well-signposted mountain bike trails to choose from around the Steinplatte – including the Heutal Loop, the Reit-im-Winkl Loop and the Loferer Alm Loop. The routes start at the valley station of the gondola lift in Waidring and, depending on the route, offer suitable options for both leisure cyclists and experienced mountain bikers. Bicycles and e-bikes can be hired directly at the valley station.
