Triassic Park is situated on the Steinplatte above Waidring in the Tyrolean Pillerseetal valley, right on the border with Salzburg and Bavaria. The gondola ride up is comfortable and family-friendly, and ideal if you’re planning a day out with children or travelling from the Salzburg/Bavaria area.
Prams, dogs & wheelchairs
The Steinplatte and Triassic Park offer the perfect setting for a relaxing day out. Dogs are allowed to ride in the gondola for a small fee and are welcome in the outdoor area. Families can enjoy pram-friendly paths on the Triassic Trail, whilst the accessible facilities and spacious gondolas ensure a comfortable visit for wheelchair users. So nothing stands in the way of a shared mountain experience.

What can I do at Triassic Park in the summer?
In summer, Triassic Park on the Steinplatte invites families on a journey back to prehistoric times: on the Triassic Trail, you’ll discover life-size dinosaurs, fossilised corals and ammonites. At Triassic Beach, water features and Kneipp facilities provide a pleasant way to cool off. Children can also use a hammer and chisel to uncover fossils or dig up a dinosaur skeleton, and much, much more.
Who is Triassic Park suitable for?
Triassic Park is ideal for families with young children and school-age children. From the water play areas and fossil hunts to the interactive stations, there’s something for everyone.
For older children and young people up to the age of 12, the Triassic Trail and the augmented reality treasure hunt offer exciting experiences.
At the Triassic Centre, even parents and grandparents can learn a thing or two and relax in the Panorama Shell or enjoy the view from the viewing platform.
Is Triassic Park still a good place to visit even in bad weather?

How much time should I set aside for the visit?
Triassic Park is well worth a full day’s trip: you should allow at least half a day for the Triassic Trail, Triassic Beach, fossil hunt, puzzle rally, Triassic Centre and stalactite cave – and if you want to take your time exploring everything, you can easily spend a whole day on the mountain.
How do I get to Triassic Park?
Triassic Park is situated on the Steinplatte in Waidring in the Pillerseetal valley in the Kitzbühel Alps and can be easily reached by gondola lift from Waidring – there’s no need for a long hike. You can get there either by car, driving directly to the valley station in Waidring, or by public transport (bus services to the Pillerseetal valley) followed by a short walk to the cable car.
Is Triassic Park suitable for families with pushchairs?
Yes, Triassic Park is well suited to families with pushchairs: the main paths are largely easy to walk on and have been designed to be accessible, so that even families with young children can enjoy a relaxed visit to the park.
The Triassic Trail is well-maintained and therefore ideal for pushchairs right up to the first reservoir (water dinosaurs). For the rest of the way to the summit, we recommend bringing a baby carrier, rucksack or similar.
Are there any restaurants and facilities in the area?
Yes, there are mountain restaurants and huts around Triassic Park offering lunch, snacks and drinks. There are
also sun terraces and rest areas that are perfect for taking a break. At the top station and in the park, there are toilets – some with baby-changing facilities – as well as clothes dryers.
There are also easily accessible areas for families with children, making it easy to enjoy longer stays with meals, playtime and rest breaks on comfortable seating with shaded areas.
How much does it cost to visit Triassic Park?
To visit Triassic Park, you’ll need a ticket for the Steinplatte mountain railway, which includes entry to the park. There are various ticket options available, such as single journeys, day tickets and family-friendly offers – including family tickets and, in some cases, combined or network tickets with discounts. You can find the current prices and special offers directly in the ticketing section of the Steinplatte Mountain Railway.
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
No, of course you can also visit Triassic Park on the spur of the moment and buy tickets directly from the mountain railway ticket office. However, booking online is a good idea – particularly during school holidays, at weekends and when the weather is fine – to avoid queues.
