Prehistoric adventures now also in ‘The Ice Age’

Winter at Triassic Park

Triassic Park at Steinplatte Waidring is a place to be even in winter, with great activities for the whole family – even without skis: because the winter hiking trail to the viewing platform, the Panorama Muschel and the stalactite cave is absolutely brilliant. And whilst the grown-ups whizz down the slopes and the little freestylers have a go on the Triassic Funline to their hearts’ content, the very youngest (non-skiers) will find the Triassic childcare absolutely brilliant. The whole Triassic Park area is a brilliant playground even in winter and can be enjoyed by everyone; we also offer a mums’ lounge. As a special treat, our mascot Triassi visits us on certain days, and there are also fantastic children’s events.

Triassic Trail winter walking route & winter playground

The winter hiking trail on the Triassic Trail takes you – depending on snow conditions groomed – through a snow-covered prehistoric landscape. On easy-to-walk paths, you can stroll through Triassic Park at your own pace, past dinosaur figures, winter play areas and, time and again, beautiful vantage points.

The entire area around Triassic Park turns into a huge winter playground in winter: children build snow figures around the dinosaurs, slide and romp about in the snow, and discover familiar summer play equipment in a new, snow-covered setting. This means that even non-skiers can enjoy a day in the mountains whilst the rest of the family is out on the slopes.

Good to know:

  • Winter hiking trail (1 km long) along the Triassic Trail with views of the ski area and the peaks
  • large winter playground in the Triassic Park area
  • also ideal for family members and lovers of panoramic views who are spending time on the mountain without skiing

Childcare in winter – playing instead of freezing

For the very youngest children who can’t ski yet – or who simply need a break now and then – there’s the winter childcare at Triassic Park. Your children are in good hands here; they can play indoors and outdoors play, do crafts and warm up, whilst parents carve a few turns on the slopes or enjoy a quiet break in the chalet.

In addition, a parents’ lounge is available as a quiet retreat – ideal for parents with babies and toddlers who are looking for a quiet place to breastfeed, change nappies or take a breather . As a special highlight, our mascot Triassi also pops in on certain days and is sure to make the children’s eyes light up.

Useful information about Triassic childcare:

  • for families with young children and non-skiers aged 3 and over
  • bookable for half-days, full days or by the hour
  • lunch available
  • ideal for short breaks from a day’s skiing

Viewing platform in winter

Even in winter, the fan-shaped viewing platform remains one of the most impressive spots on the mountain. From the viewing platform, you can look down deep into the snow-covered rocky landscape or gaze far across the surrounding mountains – a spectacular contrast of white, rock and sky. If you’re lucky and the snow conditions are right, you can even visit our summer highlight, the Panorama Muschel . Wrapped up in warm clothes, you can enjoy your very own natural cinema here: snow-capped peaks, skiers in the background and the special tranquillity of a winter’s day on the mountain.

What to expect:

  • spectacular views down from the viewing platform
  • phenomenal views of the winter landscape around the Steinplatte
  • absolute tranquillity far away from the slopes

Stalactite cave – a prehistoric atmosphere beneath the blanket of snow

A special winter highlight is the replica stalactite cave in Triassic Park. After a short walk along the winter hiking trail, you’ll find yourself immersed in another world: stalactites, a unique lighting atmosphere and the realisation that geological formations have been created in caves over very long periods of time. Especially on days when the weather outside is changeable, the stalactite cave offers an exciting change of scene – ideal as a short additional stop on the winter walking trail or following a visit to the viewing platform

Good to know:

  • easily combined with the Triassic Trail winter walking route
  • an impressive experience for children and adults alike
  • family-friendly facts about the world of geology
