The Steinplatte - a multi-award winning skiing region
The skking paradise Steinplatte is located in the tri-border region of Tirol, Salzburg and Bavaria on a high plateau from 1,100 m to 1,900 above sea level. Nature has been kind to the Steinplatte: lots of sun, lots of snow and no ice formation on the slopes thanks to the ideal location. Downhill runs from easy to difficult with a total length of 36 km, of which 100 % have artificial snowmaking facilities, offer guests perfect winter sports conditions. From Waidring, the skiing area can be reached on the mono-cable ropeway, built in 1998, which covers 870 meters in elevation gain over a distance of 2,800 m and can carry 2,500 people per hour to the skiing area. There winter sports guests enjoy the ascent only on comfortable chair lifts. Available are the 3-seat chairlift Kammerkör (carrying capacity 1,800 p/h), the 4-seat cable car Bäreck (2,000 p/h), the 4-seat chair lift Schwarzlofer (2,000 p/h), the 4-seat chair lift Möser (2,400 p/h), the 6-seat chair lift Kapellen (2,800 p/h), the 6-seat chair lift Plattenkogel (2,800 p/h) and the 8-seat chair lift Steinplatte, newly built in 2005, with protective weather cover and heated seats (3,800 p/h). All lifts have, with a total length of 11.3 km, a carrying capacity of 20,100 people per hour. This means: hardly any waiting times and lots of comfort in a diverse, family-friendly ski circus. Special attention is paid to the grooming of the slopes in the tri-border, high-altitude skiing paradise. 57 snow guns plus 23 snow lances make sure the season can kick off year after year by the end of November and guarantee perfect skiing conditions until mid-April. With eight powerful PistenBully snow groomers, slopes are groomed daily. This won the skiing region the highest decoration of the state of Tirol, the SKIGEBIETSKRISTALL (ski area crystal) and the Tyrol Seal of Approved Slope Quality. A snow-park, rustic huts, bars and restaurants make this skiing paradise perfect.
