Lush meadows, alpine roses and fern
Be it a leisurely stroll, climbing enthusiast or summiteer: the Steinplatte high plateau has wonderful tours to choose from for all ages and levels of difficulty. We would like to recommend some of these in particular right here:
The well constructed way from the upper terminus of the gondola lift past the "Red wall" will take you right up to the summit cross. Once there, the superb views will leave you breathless. But fear not, we can guarantee an ample supply of fresh air on the summit so that you can tackle the way back in fresh spirits. Take the souther slope to the upper reservoir, and from there back to the upper terminus.
From the upper terminus, start by hiking downhill. Before reaching the lower reservoir, turn left onto the Almweg mountain path until you reach Stallenalm. There you can use the terrace to fill up on a heart snack or simply to let the warming rays of the sun work their magic to get you ready for the way back. This will then take you towards Grünwaldalm along the Körersteig and back to the upper terminus.
This circuit leads past the Stallenalm all the way to the parking lot of the Steinplatte mountain road, from there continue to the Schwarzloferalm and via the Eibenstock hut to the Winklmoosalm. For the way back, either hike along the Muckklause or across the Rossfeld to the Mösern alpine inn and from there back to the upper terminus.
A tour for all those who ant to improve their fitness: Via the Stallenalm to the mountain road parking lot and continue on the nature trail to the Brennhütte turn-off, from there straight on to the Durchkaseralm. The Eggenalm (Straubingerhaus alpine inn) is the next milestone. From there it's up to the left all the way to the peak. After a short breather and the photo opp by the summit cross it's back the same way to the upper terminus.
This hike across the Stallen- and Grünwaldalm will take you to the Wemeteigenalm. The way back leads along the Wiesloch path, requiring exceptionally sure footing. If that's not enough action for you, you can return to the upper terminus via the summit of the Steinplatte, all others march downhill past the "Red Wall" to the Kammerkör alpine inn and board the gondola from there.
